Winds Through the Wada is a 10x14 watercolor original by artist Nandkishor Shinde, a traditional stone-and-plaster wada house with a red roof and open verandah, shaded by a large tree, with utility wires strung across the sky.
The stone-and-plaster walls of the wada are built in cool blue-grey tones, giving the structure real weight and age against the warmer tree beside it. The utility wires strung across the sky are a small, deliberate modern detail, a quiet reminder that this is a lived-in place rather than a purely historical one.
The overall feeling balances the old and the everyday, a historic house made present through small, contemporary details. The verandah's shaded interior is left comparatively dark, giving the sunlit exterior walls more visual weight by contrast.
Winds Through the Wada reflects his loose, wet-on-wet watercolor technique, letting pigment bleed and settle rather than controlling every edge. This piece is one of 20 watercolors in the same release, drawn from Shinde's travels through Konkan villages, the coast, and Pune's countryside and city streets.
