Queen Of Heart is a 60" x 48" acrylic original by artist Harshada Kolapkar, and its title is a literal description before it's anything else: a man and a woman are painted as facing playing cards, each portrait held inside a white card frame bordered in black, hearts marking the corners the way suit symbols do on any deck.
The two frames are bound together at the spine by a ring of black coils, so the whole canvas reads as one oversized notebook or ledger left open, its pages holding portraits rather than writing. Torn, gold-toned paper spills out from behind both frames, suggesting pages that have come loose or been pressed between the cards over time.
Kolapkar dresses both figures in richly patterned regal costume — the man in a peaked red cap and embroidered collar, the woman in a deep red shawl over patterned fabric — deliberately closer to court portraiture than to a casual double portrait, reinforcing the King-and-Queen logic the title sets up.
