Divine Serenity is a 24" x 24" acrylic original by artist Swastik Jawalekar. A white cow's head fills most of the canvas, crowned with a delicate arrangement of white flowers, beaded strands, and trailing blue leaves, while a red collar strung with brass bells hangs at its neck — ornament and calm held together in one image, exactly as the title names.
Jawalekar keeps the cow's expression gentle and downcast, the eye rendered as a single soft, dark form, so that the elaborate decoration around the head never overwhelms the animal's quiet presence beneath it.
The background dissolves into a soft, muted wash of grey, mauve, and blue florals, painted loosely enough to feel like an extension of the flower crown rather than a separate setting, unifying decoration and atmosphere across the whole canvas.
The red collar and its row of brass bells is the piece's single strongest color accent, a warm, saturated note against the otherwise cool, pastel-toned painting, and the most tactile passage in the piece — each bell given individual highlight and shadow.
This combination of floral ornament and devotional cattle imagery recurs across Jawalekar's collection, and Divine Serenity is among the most decorated examples, layering crown, collar, and floral ground into a single unified portrait.
The square format suits a living room, entryway, or a grouping with the artist's other cow portraits, where the shared subject and devotional tone connect the works.
This is a hand-painted acrylic original on canvas, not a reproduction. The layered floral background is built up in soft, blended passes distinct from the more defined linework of the collar and crown.
Divine Serenity lives up to both halves of its title — genuinely divine in its ornament, and genuinely serene in the calm face beneath it.
Divine Serenity sits alongside pieces like Ganesha in Jawalekar's Guest Artist collection, built in the same restrained blue palette Jawalekar favours across this collection. The gallery-wrapped canvas means it's ready to hang as-is; a floating frame is worth considering only if you want a more formal, finished edge. Beyond the spaces already suited to it, Divine Serenity also works well in a reading nook or quiet corner for a slightly different feel.
For anyone with a personal fondness for the animal at its center, it makes a memorable, personal gift rather than a purely decorative one. Animal studies like this one are usually approached with the same anatomical seriousness as a portrait, rather than as a decorative motif. Natural, indirect light tends to bring out the surface texture best; direct sun for long periods should be avoided so the colour stays true over time.
