Ganesha is a 12" x 12" acrylic original by artist Swastik Jawalekar, a close, warmly lit portrait adorned with a jeweled headpiece strung with pearl-like beads across the forehead. A single pink lotus is held delicately at the trunk, its stem trailing down toward a larger lotus bloom cradled below.
Jawalekar paints the skin in warm, glowing gold and peach tones, catching soft highlights across the cheek and trunk, while the deep blue-green background is worked in loose, atmospheric washes flecked with fine white specks, giving the piece a sense of soft, ambient light.
The jeweled crown is the painting's most detailed passage, with individual beads, gemstones, and a small crescent-shaped ear ornament picked out in careful, controlled linework against the softer, blended treatment of the face and background.
The lotus held at the trunk is a quiet, specific gesture rather than a generic prop — the flower's stem is followed by the eye down to the larger open bloom cradled beneath the tusks, tying the top and bottom of the composition together.
The intimate 12-inch scale suits a puja space, a study, or a small dedicated wall, where its close, warm portrait can be viewed near at hand.
This is a hand-painted acrylic original on canvas, not a reproduction. The fine white speckling across the background is part of Jawalekar's layered acrylic technique.
Ganesha pairs the artist's devotional sensibility with close, jewel-toned detail, offering a warm, intimate portrait scaled for a personal space.
Ganesha sits alongside pieces like Inner sanctuary in Jawalekar's Guest Artist collection, carrying Jawalekar's blue-toned, meditative treatment of devotional subjects. As a gallery-wrapped acrylic on canvas, it can be hung unframed for a clean, contemporary look, or set into a simple floating frame for a more finished edge. Beyond the spaces already suited to it, Ganesha also works well in a bedroom accent wall for a slightly different feel.
It also makes a natural festival or housewarming gift for anyone who keeps a devotional corner at home. This kind of devotional subject tends to work best as a personal, contemplative piece rather than a purely decorative one. Indirect natural light generally shows the surface at its best, and keeping it out of direct, prolonged sun helps the colours hold over time. Being handmade, minor variations in surface and stroke are expected and are part of Jawalekar's process, not a defect.
