Turquoise Cliff I

Bands of turquoise and deep navy stack across this original acrylic abstract like sea and sky folding into cliff and stone, built from flat, confident planes of colour rather than literal detail. A pale, cream toned rock form pushes in from the lower left, its jagged edge outlined in soft charcoal, while a small square of red glows quietly near the centre of the canvas, the single warm note in an otherwise cool composition. The effect is closer to a remembered coastline than a painted one, all mood and structure rather than description.

The artist works the surface in dry, scumbled passes over each colour block, leaving the canvas weave visible through the paint and giving even the flattest turquoise shapes a chalky, weathered texture. Thin black contour lines separate each plane cleanly, giving the composition a graphic, almost cut paper quality, while the small patch of red is left slightly rougher and more textured, drawing the eye back to it again and again.

Its cool palette and structured, geometric feel suit a contemporary living room, a study, or a calm bedroom wall, especially in spaces already built around blue, teal, or neutral tones. Hung as a single statement piece above a sofa or console, it brings colour without visual noise, and pairs naturally with its companion canvas for a two piece coastal abstract set.

This kind of restrained, sophisticated abstract landscape makes a considered gift for someone furnishing a new home or refreshing a study or office wall, particularly for those drawn to coastal or minimalist colour stories rather than bold, busy compositions.

The first Turquoise Cliff canvas establishes the coastal mood that its companion continues, its small red accent offering a single warm note within an otherwise cool, structured composition. At 12 by 12 inches, it works comfortably as a single calming accent in a hallway or study, and its restrained palette pairs naturally with other blue, teal, or neutral toned pieces already in the room.

The single red accent within this canvas also makes it a useful anchor piece for a room where you want to introduce one small pop of warm colour into an otherwise cool, blue based palette, without committing to a fully warm colour scheme elsewhere in the space.

Every painting from Sajaao is an original, one-of-a-kind work hand-painted on canvas by the artist, and it arrives with a certificate of authenticity. Free framing in a choice of colours is available on request, and the canvas needs only an occasional dusting with a soft, dry cloth to stay looking its finest for years to come.
