THE SEVEN HILLS is a 10.25" x 12.5" watercolour original by artist Jaya Javeri, set within a red frame bordered in a dense dot pattern. A cluster of stepped temple towers, or gopurams, rises against a glowing orange-and-yellow sky, a warm sun or moon hovering just above the tallest spire.
The subject draws on the hill temples of southern India, most famously associated with Tirupati's seven sacred hills, and Javeri paints the towers in tight, overlapping formation, their tiered silhouettes reading as a small skyline rather than isolated structures.
Javeri's watercolour washes here lean fully into the warmth of the subject, layering red, orange, and gold with almost no cool color anywhere in the piece, giving the painting the feel of towers caught at the height of a sunset or festival glow.
Small flags are visible at the tips of several towers, a fine, specific detail picked out in dark line against the glowing sky, grounding the painting's warm atmosphere in an observed, particular place rather than a generic temple silhouette.
