WELCOME HOME is an 11" x 18.75" watercolour original by artist Jaya Javeri, set within her own painted, hand-finished frame. An ornate blue archway, its carved details picked out in soft washes, frames a doorway strung with a garland of pink and orange flowers, while two children sit close together on the stone steps below.
The title's warmth is carried by the children's closeness and the festive garland above them — this isn't an empty architectural study but a threshold actively being used, entered, and returned to, exactly the feeling the title names.
Javeri builds the archway in layered blue washes, darker toward the recessed doorway at its center, giving the structure real depth despite the flat, graphic quality of her watercolour technique.
The two children are painted small and simply, in warm reds and creams against the cool blue architecture around them, their scale emphasizing the archway's height while their presence keeps the piece from reading as pure architectural study.
As with the artist's other temple pieces, the surrounding frame continues the painting's palette and texture — here in warm terracotta dot-patterning against the doorway's cool blue — treating the frame as a designed extension of the scene rather than a separate object.
The vertical format suits an entryway or hallway, a fitting placement given the painting's own subject of arrival and threshold.
This is a hand-painted watercolour original, not a reproduction. Natural variation in the wash and frame detailing is part of the artist's technique.
Welcome Home pairs its architectural subject with genuine human presence, the children on the steps giving the grand blue archway above them its actual warmth.
WELCOME HOME sits alongside pieces like LEAVE YOUR WORRIES BEHIND in Javeri's Guest Artist collection, continuing Javeri's interest in temple structures rendered through layered, soft-edged washes. As a paper original, framing under UV-protective glass is worth the investment; it keeps the wash colours from drifting under strong light over the years. Beyond the spaces already suited to it, WELCOME HOME also works well in a compact urban apartment for a slightly different feel.
It also makes a natural festival or housewarming gift for anyone who keeps a devotional corner at home. This kind of devotional subject tends to work best as a personal, contemplative piece rather than a purely decorative one. Indirect natural light generally shows the surface at its best, and keeping it out of direct, prolonged sun helps the colours hold over time. Being handmade, minor variations in surface and stroke are expected and are part of Javeri's process, not a defect.
