Musical Concert is a 60" x 48" acrylic original by artist Arvind Kolapkar, the largest canvas in this series, and its title describes something closer to an ensemble than a single performer. Kolapkar paints a group of musicians as overlapping, layered silhouettes rather than individually separated figures — faces and bodies stack into one another in gold tones against a deep green field, an effect closer to a multiple-exposure photograph than a conventional group portrait.
That layering is exactly what makes it read as a concert rather than a recital: instead of showing several musicians standing apart, Kolapkar merges their forms so the canvas carries the sense of simultaneous sound and movement a live ensemble produces.
At the center, one figure plays a flute held horizontally to the lips, a pose with deep roots in Indian classical and devotional imagery, anchoring the layered group around a single recognizable act of playing.
The palette is built on strong contrast: warm gold and ochre figures set against a saturated emerald-green ground, with small birds in matching gold tones at the upper right and lower left, echoing the figures' coloring rather than standing apart from it.
