Symphony -II is a 40" x 36" acrylic original by artist Arvind Kolapkar, the second canvas in his three-part Symphony series. If a symphony is built from contrasting movements, this is the quieter one: two figures are painted in a tender embrace at the center, one resting a hand near her chest, while a third figure behind them holds the neck of a stringed instrument whose presence is implied rather than actively played.
Where the first Symphony centers a musician mid-performance, this piece centers the relationship between the figures themselves, letting the instrument recede into the background the way a symphony might drop to a single sustained note between louder passages.
Kolapkar shifts the palette into cooler blues and greens here, a marked change from the warm gold of the first canvas, giving Symphony -II a calmer, more subdued register that matches its more intimate subject — the series' tonal shift made visible.
Two doves appear at the lower right, wings spread as though settling rather than in flight, positioned at the edge of the group rather than woven through it the way birds appear more centrally elsewhere in Kolapkar's work.
Circular leaf and foliage motifs are worked into the upper left and lower right corners of the canvas, framing the central embrace with a soft, organic pattern that echoes the roundness of the figures' pose.
This turn toward intimacy over performance is what gives Symphony -II its place in the series — not a repeat of the first canvas, but a second movement developing the same underlying theme of music and closeness from a different angle.
