anjaneya is a 36" x 48" acrylic original by artist Deven Bhosale. "Anjaneya" is Hanuman's name taken from his mother, Anjana, and Bhosale paints him reaching upward with one arm, fingers braced against a rocky, dripping ceiling above, his other arm trailing down toward a mace resting at the bottom of the canvas.
The composition is oriented so the rock ceiling sits inverted at the top of the frame, water or mist streaming down from it, giving the sense of Hanuman bracing against real physical weight overhead rather than simply reaching upward into open space.
Bhosale renders the figure in warm orange and red tones, his hair and sacred beads swept with the same upward energy as his reaching arm, while the streaming ceiling above is worked in cooler, muted greys and greens.
The mace, Hanuman's traditional weapon, rests quietly at the bottom of the composition rather than being wielded, its stillness a deliberate contrast to the strain visible in the reaching figure above it.
This piece sits alongside Adiyogi, Trideva, and Dhanurdhari among Bhosale's deity subjects, each identified through a specific traditional name or epithet rather than a generic devotional title.
The vertical format suits a dedicated devotional space or a feature wall, where the dramatic upward reach and inverted ceiling can be read clearly at full height.
This is a hand-painted acrylic original on canvas, not a reproduction. The streaming ceiling texture is built up in layered washes distinct from the more defined linework of the central figure.
anjaneya captures Hanuman in a moment of physical strain and reach, the mace at rest below a reminder of strength held in check rather than actively used.
anjaneya sits alongside pieces like Adiyogi in Bhosale's Guest Artist collection, built with the same disciplined anatomical shading Bhosale applies across this collection. The gallery-wrapped canvas means it's ready to hang as-is; a floating frame is worth considering only if you want a more formal, finished edge. Beyond the spaces already suited to it, anjaneya also works well in a home office or study for a slightly different feel.
It also makes a natural festival or housewarming gift for anyone who keeps a devotional corner at home. This kind of devotional subject tends to work best as a personal, contemplative piece rather than a purely decorative one. Indirect natural light generally shows the surface at its best, and keeping it out of direct, prolonged sun helps the colours hold over time. Being handmade, minor variations in surface and stroke are expected and are part of Bhosale's process, not a defect.
