Thunder 2 is a 24" x 30" acrylic original by artist Deven Bhosale. A bay horse is brought into close portrait, its head turned slightly toward the viewer, dark mane catching warm highlights against a deep, textured teal-green background.
Faint leaf and feather motifs are worked into that background, along with a pale, ghostly handprint visible near the horse's shoulder — a quiet, easy-to-miss detail that adds a human presence to an otherwise solely animal portrait.
Bhosale builds the horse's coat in warm browns catching cooler shadow along the neck and shoulder, the anatomy rendered with close observational care around the eye and muzzle in particular.
The title's naming as a second "Thunder" suggests this portrait continues an earlier study of the same subject or theme, part of a horse series numbered rather than each given an entirely new name.
The deep teal background is a departure from the fire-toned reds and oranges used in several of Bhosale's other horse portraits, giving Thunder 2 a cooler, more atmospheric register within the series.
The compact scale suits a study, hallway, or a grouping alongside the artist's other horse portraits, where the shared subject across varying palettes ties the works together.
This is a hand-painted acrylic original on canvas, not a reproduction. The faint handprint and leaf motifs in the background are built up in soft, low-contrast layers distinct from the more defined horse portrait in front of them.
Thunder 2 rewards a slower look at its background as much as its subject — the ghostly handprint is easy to miss on a first pass.
Thunder 2 sits alongside pieces like Inferno Charger in Bhosale's Guest Artist collection, part of Bhosale's consistent attention to musculature and weight, regardless of subject. Being acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas, it doesn't need a frame to look finished, though a simple floating frame works well if you prefer a more polished presentation. Beyond the spaces already suited to it, Thunder 2 also works well in a bedroom accent wall for a slightly different feel.
For anyone with a personal fondness for the animal at its center, it makes a memorable, personal gift rather than a purely decorative one. Animal studies like this one are usually approached with the same anatomical seriousness as a portrait, rather than as a decorative motif. Natural, indirect light tends to bring out the surface texture best; direct sun for long periods should be avoided so the colour stays true over time. As a handmade original, small variations in texture and brushwork are part of the piece rather than a flaw, and are consistent with how Bhosale works across this collection.
