Sadhu-Yogi is a 42" x 48" acrylic original by artist Deven Bhosale. A wandering ascetic figure is caught mid-motion, one leg braced forward, a curved blade held tightly in one hand while a string of rudraksha prayer beads trails loosely from the other — two objects, weapon and devotion, held in the same pair of hands.
A bundled cloth bag is slung over the figure's shoulder, the practical mark of an itinerant sadhu carrying everything he owns, grounding the painting's dramatic pose in the reality of a wandering ascetic's actual life.
Bhosale renders the figure's skin in warm, sun-worn orange and red tones, his long hair and beard swept back with the same forward energy as his stride, set against a soft, cloud-streaked blue-green sky that keeps the background calm even as the figure himself is caught in motion.
