Within the Sacred Arch — a decorated cow stands framed inside a tall golden arch, its curved form echoing the entrance to a temple sanctum.
The arch device gives this composition an architectural quality not often seen in Pichwai painting, the cow positioned as though standing at the threshold of a shrine. Gold linework traces the arch's curve in careful, repeated detailing, while the cow within carries the tradition's familiar jewelry and painted garland, her form scaled to fit comfortably inside the frame.
A warm red background fills the space beyond the arch, bordered by the tradition's dense patterning, the architectural framing giving the whole piece a slightly more formal, temple-like presence.
Pichwai painting is a devotional tradition that originated in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, where large painted cloths were painted for temples dedicated to Krishna. This collection reinterprets that visual language — dense patterning, sacred cow, lotus motifs and rich color — for the contemporary home, each canvas painted by an in-house Sajaao artist.
This piece suits a pooja room, entryway or hallway where its arch motif can echo an actual doorway or niche. It pairs naturally with brass, stone tones and warm lighting. Viewed up close, the fine linework and layered color reward a slower look than a quick glance across the room. Even from across a room, the balance of color and pattern here is meant to read clearly rather than blend into the wall behind it.
Painted entirely by hand by one of our in-house artists, this is a genuine original painting on canvas, carrying visible brushwork, layered color and the surface texture only a real painted piece can offer. It is ready to display with confidence as soon as it arrives.
It makes a meaningful gift for housewarmings, weddings, poojas and festival occasions, suited to anyone who values a daily reminder of faith and calm in their living space.
Each canvas ships with free framing, secure protective packaging and a signed certificate of authenticity, so it's ready to display with confidence as soon as it arrives. To keep the colors looking their best over time, keep the painting out of direct sunlight and dust it occasionally with a soft, dry cloth rather than any liquid cleaner.
A choice of black, brown, gold, silver or white frame is available for this painting, so it can be matched to the rest of your room without extra effort. The frame color is selected at the time of ordering, making the final look easy to plan for.
Available size: 18" x 24" original painting on canvas.
