Copper Divide is a 20x20 acrylic original by artist Siddhesh Rane, a red field crossed by a pale blue-grey horizontal band, with a golden-ochre rock shelf and a streak of white mist below it.
The pale blue-grey band crossing the canvas reads almost like a distant ridge line or a break in weather, separating the red sky above from the golden-ochre shelf below. A streak of white mist sits just beneath the shelf, softening the transition between the cooler band and the warmer stone.
The interruption of the blue-grey band keeps the red from feeling overwhelming across the full 20x20 canvas. The blue-grey band is the coolest element in an otherwise warm composition, functioning almost like a horizon line separating sky from stone.
Copper Divide reflects his recurring return to canyon and cliff forms, built from thick, palette-knife layers of color applied in deliberate, directional passes. This piece is one of 19 works in the same series, all built from the same layered, palette-knife approach to color and rock form. It shares its 20x20 scale with Golden Shoal, Electric Reef, and Distant Watch, though its blue-grey interruption is unique among the square-format pieces.
