Ember Passage is a 12x12 acrylic original by artist Siddhesh Rane, a deep crimson field opening onto a smaller inset passage of glowing coral and warm white light, framed by a dark maroon rock silhouette on the left.
The crimson field is built in visible, directional strokes, thinner and more transparent near the top of the canvas and thickening into denser, more opaque color toward the rock silhouette below. The inset passage of coral and white light reads almost like a window cut into the surrounding red, a smaller, brighter scene glimpsed through a gap in the rock.
The overall mood sits between warmth and tension, the small bright passage offering relief from the density of red surrounding it. There's a dusk-like quality to the color balance here, the kind of light that comes just after sunset when red still dominates but shadows have started to deepen.
Ember Passage reflects his recurring return to canyon and cliff forms, built from thick, palette-knife layers of color applied in deliberate, directional passes. It belongs to a wider group of 19 canyon and cliff-toned abstracts released together, several of which share this same underlying palette and technique. Alongside Maroon Hollow and Sunlit Ledge, it forms a trio of small square canvases exploring how far a single red family can be pushed before it needs a contrasting note.
As a gallery-wrapped acrylic on canvas, it can be hung unframed for a clean, contemporary look, or set into a simple floating frame for a more finished edge.
