Sunlit Ledge is a 12x12 acrylic original by artist Siddhesh Rane, a pale cream and tan rock ledge emerging low in the canvas against a deep red field, the palette-knife texture especially visible in the stone.
The palette-knife texture is especially visible in the cream and tan ledge, where ridges of thick paint catch light differently depending on the viewing angle. Below the ledge, the red field is worked in looser, more gestural strokes, giving the stone above a firmer, more deliberate presence by contrast.
The compact format keeps the eye moving quickly between the pale ledge and the surrounding red, rewarding a second, closer look. The light here feels closer to midday than the deeper dusk tones seen in pieces like Ember Passage or Maroon Hollow.
Sunlit Ledge reflects his recurring return to canyon and cliff forms, built from thick, palette-knife layers of color applied in deliberate, directional passes. It belongs to a wider group of 19 canyon and cliff-toned abstracts released together, several of which share this same underlying palette and technique. Alongside Ember Passage and Maroon Hollow, it completes a small trio built at the same 12x12 scale but each pushing the palette in a different direction.
As a gallery-wrapped acrylic on canvas, it can be hung unframed for a clean, contemporary look, or set into a simple floating frame for a more finished edge.
