Golden Shoal is a 20x20 acrylic original by artist Siddhesh Rane, a cool blue-teal field giving way to a golden-ochre rock shelf in the lower right, with icy white-blue texture streaking across the stone.
The transition from cool blue-teal to golden-ochre happens gradually across the lower third of the canvas, with icy white-blue streaks marking the boundary between water and stone. The rock shelf itself is built in warm, confident strokes that stand in deliberate contrast to the cooler, more atmospheric field above it.
The 20x20 format gives the water-to-stone transition enough space to feel gradual rather than abrupt. This is one of only a few pieces in the group built around a genuinely cool palette, most of the series leaning toward red and gold.
Golden Shoal reflects his recurring return to canyon and cliff forms, built from thick, palette-knife layers of color applied in deliberate, directional passes. This piece is one of 19 works in the same series, all built from the same layered, palette-knife approach to color and rock form. Its cool-to-warm transition sets it apart from Copper Divide and Distant Watch, the other two 20x20 squares, both of which stay within a red-dominant palette throughout.
As a gallery-wrapped acrylic on canvas, it can be hung unframed for a clean, contemporary look, or set into a simple floating frame for a more finished edge.
Golden Shoal would suit a cafe or casual dining space, where its scale and palette can anchor the room without overwhelming it. It also suits gifting to someone setting up a new space, since its abstract palette works as a mood-setting anchor rather than a picture of any one place.
Pieces in this series read more as color and structure than as any single, identifiable place, letting the palette do most of the emotional work. Indirect natural light generally shows the surface clearly, and keeping it out of direct, prolonged sun helps the colours hold over time. Being handmade, minor variations in surface and stroke are expected and are part of Rane's process here, not a defect.
Golden Shoal is one of the more atmospheric pieces in the group, built around a genuine shift in temperature rather than a single dominant tone. At 20x20, it sits comfortably as a mid-scale piece, large enough to read from across a room without needing a feature wall. The interplay between the cool field and warm shelf gives it more temperature range than most other pieces in this release.
