Destruction is a 16" x 12" pen and ink original by artist Umesh Ghadge. A tangled pile of broken wooden furniture — overturned chairs, splintered stools, a battered cabinet — fills the composition, each piece resting at an unnatural angle against the others.
Ghadge renders every splintered edge and broken joint in dense cross-hatched linework, the damage to each object made legible through the same careful, controlled mark-making used for intact form elsewhere in his work.
The wall behind the pile carries its own dense, mottled texture, a field of small interlocking marks that reads almost like stone or worn plaster, giving the whole scene a sense of enclosed, forgotten space rather than an open room.
Nothing in the composition is treated as more important than anything else — legs, seats, and broken slats overlap with equal weight, refusing to resolve into any single dominant object and instead reading as a genuine accumulated jumble.
This willingness to find a worthwhile subject in discarded, damaged objects, rather than only in grand architecture or posed still life, sets Destruction apart within Ghadge's collection.
