Enjoy is a 21" x 14" pen and ink original by artist Umesh Ghadge. Three children play in shallow shoreline water, crawling and splashing through the waves, one turning to look back over his shoulder while the others push forward into the surf — a moment of unposed, genuine play that the title names directly.
This is the only figure study in Ghadge's collection built entirely around a moment of leisure rather than work, architecture, or ritual, a deliberate change of register from the documentary attention given elsewhere to buildings and street life.
Ghadge renders the water's surface in fine, rippling stippled strokes, the same patient dot-and-line technique used for stone and brick elsewhere in his work now applied to capture the specific texture of shallow, moving water.
The children's wet skin and hair are rendered in denser, darker stippling than the surrounding water, keeping their small figures clearly legible against the rippling surface they're moving through.
Where much of Ghadge's collection documents Mumbai's built environment with careful architectural attention, Enjoy turns that same discipline toward a fleeting, ordinary moment of childhood play.
The scale suits a nursery, family room, or a grouping with the artist's other figure studies, where its lighter, playful subject offers contrast to his architectural work.
This is a hand-drawn pen and ink original on paper, not a reproduction. The rippling water texture is built up in fine, directional stippling, part of Ghadge's consistent technique.
