Fractured Geode is a 20" x 60" mixed media original by artist Sanjay Sabale, and it is the most distinct panel in his tall abstract series. Near the top of the canvas, a black-cracked circular form holds a dense cluster of multicolored fragments — pink, blue, green, orange — visible through fine fissures radiating outward like a broken stone opened to reveal what's inside.
That central form is exactly what the title names: something that reads as solid and dark from outside, cracked open to expose genuine color and texture within, closer in feeling to a geode split open than a painted shape.
Below the cracked circle, a solid block of deep blue anchors the composition, followed by a swirling teal and turquoise field scattered with small embedded squares of red, pink, and blue — more of the same fragment material found within the circle above, extended into the surrounding field.
This is the clearest example in Sabale's series of genuine mixed media construction rather than poured paint alone, the small embedded fragments throughout reading as deliberately placed collage material rather than an effect of the pigment itself.
The tall, narrow proportions of this panel and its five companions in the series are used consistently to isolate a single vertical movement of color and form, rather than the wider compositions found in Sabale's square-format abstracts.
The tall vertical format suits a narrow wall, stairwell, or a grouping with its companion panels, where several can be hung together to form a wider composition.
This is a hand-made mixed media original on canvas, not a reproduction. The embedded fragments are a genuine physical element of the piece, not a painted illusion.
Fractured Geode rewards close inspection more than any other panel in the series — its cracked central form only gives up its full color at close range.
