Unconditional Embrace-II is a 58" x 41.5" acrylic original by artist Sanjay Sabale, the second work in his embrace series and, at this scale, its boldest statement. A mother carries her child draped gently across the top of her head, one small hand resting near her ear, a pose of total trust the title's word "unconditional" points to directly.
Sabale gives the mother a sweeping tail of bright red-orange hair that flows out behind her across nearly the full width of the canvas, echoing the same dramatic hair device used in Nostalgia but here in a warmer, more urgent color against a cooler blue field.
She holds a drum at her side, sticks in hand, her fine-hatched skin and patterned yellow blouse rendered in Sabale's consistent linework technique, while the child above her, small and simply painted, rests with visible ease in its unusual, elevated position.
The pairing of a child carried this way — not in arms, but trusted to rest safely above — with the word "unconditional" gives this piece a slightly different emotional register from Maternal Embrace II, less about wrapping and shelter and more about trust extended even in an exposed, unguarded pose.
The background splits between a warm orange-red field behind the figure's head and a cool blue field below, a division consistent with Sabale's other large figurative works, isolating the central gesture within bold, flat color.
Given its scale, this piece suits a substantial wall where its full sweep of red hair and the tenderness of its central gesture can both be read clearly from across a room.
This is a hand-painted acrylic original on canvas, not a reproduction. The fine hatching throughout is built up by hand, part of Sabale's consistent figurative technique.
Unconditional Embrace-II earns its title through an unusual, trusting pose rather than a conventional one — a child held safely in a place most embraces don't reach.
Unconditional Embrace-II sits alongside pieces like Emerald Undertow in Sabale's Guest Artist collection, reflecting Sabale's willingness to shift technique from piece to piece rather than settle on one register. The gallery-wrapped canvas means it's ready to hang as-is; a floating frame is worth considering only if you want a more formal, finished edge. Beyond the spaces already suited to it, Unconditional Embrace-II also works well in a bedroom accent wall for a slightly different feel.
It works well as a gift tied to a family milestone — an anniversary, a new home, a new arrival. Family subjects like this one usually say more through posture and closeness between figures than through facial expression.
