By the Wada Gate is a 14x10 watercolor original by artist Nandkishor Shinde, a vintage blue motorcycle parked before a weathered stone building with an arched wooden door and a small green tree beside it.
The motorcycle's deep blue is the most saturated color in the composition, set deliberately against the muted violet and ochre tones of the wall behind it. Small architectural details, an electric meter box, a mailbox, a covered awning, are picked out with just enough precision to suggest a real, specific building.
The overall composition pairs old architecture with a specific, dated vehicle, giving the scene a clear sense of a particular time and place. The small green tree at the right edge softens what would otherwise be an entirely hard, architectural composition.
By the Wada Gate reflects his loose, wet-on-wet watercolor technique, letting pigment bleed and settle rather than controlling every edge.
