Dancing with the Falls is a 14x10 watercolor original by artist Nandkishor Shinde, a tall, narrow waterfall dropping between two sheer rock cliffs, three small figures playing in the spray at its base.
The waterfall itself is built through controlled negative painting, the white of the paper doing most of the work to suggest its force and spray. The three children at its base are small but clearly active, their poses suggesting movement and play rather than passive observation.
The overall composition captures genuine energy and scale, the waterfall's height emphasized by the small figures at its base. The sheer rock cliffs framing the falls are built from layered violet-grey washes, giving real height and scale to the drop of water between them.
Dancing with the Falls reflects his loose, wet-on-wet watercolor technique, letting pigment bleed and settle rather than controlling every edge. This piece is part of the same release as Shinde's other Konkan, village, and countryside watercolors, drawn from his travels through Maharashtra. Its dramatic scale sets it apart from the gentler river studies like Flowing Through Rocks, reading as the most forceful water scene in this release.
