Purple Skies is a 14x19 watercolor original by artist Nandkishor Shinde, a banyan tree with hanging roots framing a distant cluster of village houses beneath a sky washed in violet and gold at dusk.
The hanging roots of the banyan tree are painted as fine, controlled drips, framing the sky beyond like a natural window rather than a hard architectural edge. The violet and gold sky is the clear emotional center of the piece, built from soft, overlapping washes that shift gradually from warm to cool.
The overall composition uses the tree as a genuine frame, directing the eye through to the glowing sky and village beyond. Figures walking on the path below are small and quiet, included mainly to establish scale against the looming tree and sky.
Purple Skies reflects the same soft, atmospheric handling of light that runs through his other work in this collection, favoring mood over precise detail. It belongs to a wider group of watercolors from Shinde's Konkan and Pune-region work, several sharing this same loose, atmospheric technique. Its dusk palette and banyan framing echo Floating in Harmony, both built around a similar violet and gold evening sky.
