Path of Yesterdays is a 10x14 watercolor original by artist Nandkishor Shinde, a massive old tree with a thick violet-toned trunk shading a rural road, a red-roofed house, a lone goat, and hazy hills beyond.
The tree trunk is built in violet-grey tones rather than the more expected brown, giving it an unusual, slightly otherworldly presence at the center of an ordinary rural scene. The goat and the small house are minor details, included more to establish scale and daily rhythm than to serve as the painting's real subject.
The overall composition favors atmosphere over incident, the road and its surroundings feeling remembered rather than specifically observed. The misty hills in the far distance are barely there, just enough wash to suggest depth without competing with the tree in front of them.
