The Path of the Stream is a 10x14 watercolor original by artist Nandkishor Shinde, a wide, tumbling stream running between rounded rock formations in a dense green forest, water breaking white over a small central ledge.
The rounded boulders here are built from warmer, more purple-toned washes than the boulders in Flowing Through Rocks, giving this piece a slightly different temperature. White water breaks over a central rock ledge in a series of controlled, overlapping strokes, suggesting real movement and force.
The overall composition feels slightly more turbulent than Green Breeze, with water breaking more forcefully across the central ledge. Trees along both banks lean subtly inward, framing the water below in a way that draws the eye directly toward the central cascade.
The Path of the Stream reflects his consistent interest in ordinary village, forest, and coastal life, rendered through loose washes rather than tight, literal illustration. This piece is part of the same release as Shinde's other Konkan, village, and countryside watercolors, drawn from his travels through Maharashtra. Alongside Flowing Through Rocks and Green Breeze, it completes this release's set of forest river studies.
